In 1995 AESSEAL developed the CPCS Double Cartridge Mechanical seal.
The CPCS seal is a double mechanical seal, secondary containment being by a high pressure teflon based lip seal. The advantage of using this seal is that it allows for a very compact design and therefore able to fit the tight housing constraints of typical cargo pumps. The lip seal is capable of containing the pumped fluid in the event of primary seal failure.
