AESSEAL celebrates supplier sustainability

AESSEAL’s inaugural supplier sustainability awards have been won by DMG MORI and Kite Packaging.

The awards, issued at AESSEAL's 2023 supplier engagement event, follow a survey of AES Engineering/AESSEAL major suppliers as part of the group's Net Zero review project, in order to examine supply chain emissions and to identify how these can be reduced and influenced in the long term.

DMG MORI, the global machine tool manufacturer was chosen as Betterworld Sustainable Supplier of the year. The company is leading the way in sustainable business practices with recent investments in roof top solar panels and a decision to start supplying machine tools in "native" three-phase motors for the UK and European markets - avoiding transformation losses normally associated with tools originally designed for Asian markets.

Kite Packaging was selected for the Supply Chain Sustainability Award in recognition of the assistance given to AESSEAL to move towards sustainable packaging and their own commitment to the environment on a range of criteria including adherence to international standards, tracking emissions with active targets for reductions, and support for the Betterworld.Solutions environmentally friendly investment policies.

AES Engineering and AESSEAL managing director, Chris Rea, said:

The supply chain is the most problematic area for most businesses who are committed to the Net Zero goal, whether they have achieved this and gone beyond it as we have, or are just starting on the journey. DMG MORI is a stand-out example of a major company listening to customers and providing machine tools that can reduce or avoid energy losses due to different voltage standards in global markets. Kite Packaging is a worthy winner of our first supplier sustainability award, both for their own work and for the help they have given us to move towards our aim - almost now achieved - of supplying all standard seals in 100% recyclable packaging by the end of this year.

AESSEAL Supply Chain & Logistics Manager Christian Pulman said:

So many of our suppliers are actively becoming more sustainable and really commend those who have responded during the audit that shared the great work they are doing.
