Case Studies Q&A

How did the contact with the customer develop?

The initial contact was through information we received from another company which was carrying out work on a pump at one of the customer’s sites. It turned out that they were having seal failures roughly every two weeks on four water slurry disposal pumps. The slurry was damaging the seals, and causing bearing failure, leading to significant downtime. We installed four of our heavy duty slurry seals and our SW2TM water management system. This gave them a safer, more reliable, and more environmentally friendly operation.

Were they existing customers?

They were not customers of ours, but we were already working on a number of other sites in the mining sector.

What distinguishes AESSEAL from its competitors?

Our approach is different to that of our competitors, particularly in the strong emphasis we place on providing exceptional customer service.

Were there any problems during installation?

In all our contracts, as part of our customer service we remain on site in order to supervise the installation and commissioning of equipment, and to provide support and assistance as required. This helps to prevent problems from arising, and ensures, as it did in this case, that the process goes smoothly.

The seals were installed some years ago. Does AESSEAL offer a regular inspection or maintenance service?

Again, as part of our customer service, we are in regular contact with the company to monitor the condition of the seals. We carry out routine maintenance and any necessary repairs every 12 months or so, at the time that the pump is being overhauled.

Has AESSEAL been asked to do any additional work for the company?

We are now looking into providing seals for other pumps at the plant.

Is much of AESSEAL's business in the mining sector?

Yes, it’s a big part of our business here in Australia.

Has this contract led to enquiries from other companies in the region?

The work we carried out for this company, and the favourable reports concerning the performance of the seals, has led to a number of enquiries. As a result, we have secured a number of other contracts.

What can you say about AESSEAL in the Australian market? For example, in which sectors does it have the strongest presence?

AESSEAL has established a very strong reputation in the Australian mining sector. Mining is one of the most important sectors of the Australian economy, contributing more than 10% of national GDP. Australia has plentiful supplies of natural resources, including the second largest accessible reserves of iron ore in the world, the fifth largest reserves of coal, and significant gas resources. Based on the superiority of its equipment, AESSEAL is establishing a growing presence in this very important sector.
