AESSEAL Receives Gold RoSPA Award for Health and Safety

The Rotherham-based company AESSEAL plc, the world's leading supplier of mechanical seals and support systems, has been announced as the winner of the gold Presidential Award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

It is the tenth year in succession that AESSEAL has won a gold RoSPA award. This has been achieved in the face of strong international competition, and demonstrates once again the level of the company's commitment to the health and safety of its staff.

AESSEAL Managing Director Chris Rea said that the award was a reflection of the importance that the company places on the welfare of its employees.

Since AESSEAL was founded more than 40 years ago, we have put a huge emphasis on health and safety (Mr Rea said). Our continued success and profitability depend on the welfare of the people who work for us, both in the UK and in more than 100 other locations around the world. We have instituted programmes dedicated to keeping them safe and well, and we are delighted to learn that our efforts have been recognized with another award from RoSPA. However, health and safety is an area where we cannot afford to rest on our laurels, and we will continue our efforts to make further improvements in this aspect of our business.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards competition is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. Now in its 67th year, the awards attract nearly 2,000 entries annually from companies in around 50 countries, encompassing more than seven million employees.

The programme recognizes companies and organizations in a total of 20 sectors which have shown their dedication to continuous improvements in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work. This includes the implementation of sophisticated health and safety management systems, which involve both strong leadership and the close involvement of the workforce.

RoSPA's Achievements Director Julia Small said that companies and organizations which make health and safety a top priority deserve to be recognized and rewarded.

Accidents at work and work-related ill health can have huge financial implications and cause major disruption (Ms Small said). They can also have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life. AESSEAL is a prime example of a company which has made health and safety a top priority, and we are delighted that this has led to the achievement of a gold award for the tenth consecutive year. We would like to congratulate them on showing a continuous and unwavering commitment to keeping their employees, clients, and customers safe from accidental harm, injury, and illness.
