What was the main problem at this site and what was the cause?
The main problem was danger to the environment through solvent emissions leaking into the atmosphere.
The initial problem obviously led to multiple difficulties. Why was this and could it have been prevented?
The main problem was the increased axial movement of the shaft caused by the construction of the feeder and the increase in temperature while washing the device with a hot solvent.
How serious was the problem and how serious could it have become if AESSEAL had not intervened?
The serious problem was that gland packing never deletes solvent emissions and without this the feeder can be decommissioned.
What solutions had they tried and why didn’t they work? Was the solution obvious to you and why?
Standard SCMS has to have low axial movement tolerance. We found a solution with the ES Dual Pusher after measurements of axial movement and radial clearance.
Are the penalties for causing environmental damage high in Poland?
Yes. The penalties were high in this case, but their specific values are confidential and not publicly available.
Was it a difficult application to work on?
It required an engineering approach, measurements and understanding of the nature of the device's operation.
Was the customer an existing AESSEAL client and how pleased were they with the results?
It was an existing customer, but this application was a big step for more.
Did the cost savings quickly outweigh the outlay? Have you received any more orders from them?
Return on investment was equal to three months. After that we got more orders and business.
