Style went out of the window as mullets raised laughs, money and awareness of mental health at AESSEAL Australia.
The team grew its collective hairstyle and staged events ranging from morning teas to dress-up lunches to bring in $1,000 for the Black Dog Institute as part of its Mullets for Mental Health campaign.
AESSEAL Australia national human resources manager Linda Vandenberg said:
Our mullets and funds raised will help us drive real change and fund ground-breaking mental health research. This will put digital services and education into the hands of people who need it the most. Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
“Across our sites, the energy has been unreal. From dress-up days to morning teas - and a few questionable mullets - the team got behind a cause that affects all of us.
“This week’s standout? Seeing everyone get involved, have a laugh, and back a cause that touches so many of us, both in and out of the workplace. We said we were just getting started… and the team has delivered.”
One in five Australians experience a mental illness each year, with more than 75 per cent of problems occurring before the age of 25, and Linda added: “It’s not just about the laughs, although there’s been plenty of that - it’s about showing up, backing each other, and supporting a cause that hits close to home for a lot of people.
Mental health doesn’t stop at the gate - it comes to work with us, and that’s why this matters. Thanks to everyone who got involved with the crazy cuts, colours, wigs, flashy socks, cupcakes and all the fun in between. Your enthusiasm helped us reach our fundraising goal of $1,000 for the Black Dog Institute.
